How to Customize Your Viperys Wooden City Map

Every Viperys map is unique — designed around your city, your special place, your story. This guide walks you through the 5 personalization options you'll choose at checkout, with tips and examples to help you get exactly what you want.

The 5 Things You Personalize

  1. Your city — any city or town in the world
  2. Size & orientation — 7 options from 20×20 cm to 45×90 cm
  3. Frame color — 6 hand-waxed pine tones
  4. Pin location & symbol — exact coordinate + icon
  5. Engraved dedication — up to 300 characters on the back (free)

1. Choose Your City

You can request any city, town or village in the world. Popular choices include:

  • The city where you met, got engaged, or got married
  • Your first apartment or first house together
  • The honeymoon or bucket-list vacation city
  • Your hometown or childhood city
  • The place where a life milestone happened

How to tell us: in the personalization box at checkout, write the city name and country. If you have a specific district, neighborhood or address in mind, include it — we'll center the map on that spot.

Example: "Kraków, Poland — center the map on the Old Town, Rynek Główny area."

2. Choose Your Size & Orientation

Seven sizes from small accent pieces to statement wall art. See our Size Guide for full recommendations. Quick summary:

  • Small (20×20 or 30×30 cm) — desks, bookshelves, gallery walls, small rooms
  • Medium (30×45, 45×30, or 60×40 cm) — bedrooms, hallways, above sofas or beds
  • Large (75×45 or 45×90 cm) — statement pieces in living rooms, above king beds, luxury installations

Tip: for dense cities (New York, London, Tokyo) choose at least Medium — you'll see more detail. For small towns or coastal villages, Small works beautifully.

3. Choose Your Frame Color

Six hand-waxed Scandinavian pine tones. See our Frame Color Guide for full descriptions. Quick summary:

  • Natural — light, clean, Scandinavian
  • Rustic Pine — warm, golden, farmhouse
  • Dark Oak — medium warm oak, classic
  • Palisander — calm medium brown, elegant
  • Tudor Oak — vintage medium-dark oak, library character
  • Black — deep matte black, modern graphic

Tip: not sure? Match the frame family (warm vs cool) to your existing furniture and floors. When in doubt, Natural and Dark Oak are the most versatile.

4. Choose Your Pin Location & Symbol

The pin marks the exact spot that matters to you on the map — the ceremony venue, the front door of your first apartment, the restaurant where you proposed, the beach you never forgot.

How to give us the location

You can tell us the location in one of three ways:

  1. Full street address (most precise)
    Example: "Sukiennice, Rynek Główny 1-3, 31-042 Kraków"
  2. Landmark name
    Example: "Wawel Castle, Kraków"
  3. GPS coordinates (for remote or unnamed locations)
    Example: "50.0546° N, 19.9358° E"

Choose your pin symbol

You can choose from our built-in icons or upload your own:

  • Heart — for love stories, engagements, weddings
  • Home — for houses, apartments, first homes
  • Engagement ring — for proposals
  • Star — for milestones and special moments
  • Anchor — for coastal cities, harbors, travel memories
  • Airplane — for vacation cities and travel
  • Classic pin — universal, minimalist
  • Custom symbol — upload your own image or logo

Tip: if you want more than one pin (e.g. two homes, ceremony + reception venue), let us know at checkout — we'll add multiple pins.

5. Write Your Engraved Dedication (Free)

Every map includes a free laser-engraved dedication on the back of the frame — up to 300 characters. This is a private message only you and your recipient will see.

Tip: keep it short and personal. The best dedications are 1-3 lines. Names, dates, and a short quote work beautifully.

What Happens After You Order

  1. Within 24 hours — we email you a digital proof of your map for review
  2. You approve or request changes — two free rounds of revisions included
  3. We craft your map — 3-5 business days of hand production
  4. We ship worldwide — free FedEx Express, 2-5 business days
  5. Total time from order to delivery: typically 5-10 business days

Common Questions

Can I preview before you make it?

Yes. Within 24 hours we send you a digital proof — you review, request changes if needed, and approve. Nothing is cut until you give the green light.

Can I request a specific area zoom or crop?

Yes. Tell us what area to center on and how tight the zoom should be. Example: "Focus on the Old Town — I want to see about 3 km around it."

Can I request a specific street pattern style?

Our maps use one clean, consistent style. If you have preferences on line weight or specific streets/features to highlight, mention them and we'll do our best.

What if I don't like the digital proof?

You get two free rounds of revisions before we cut anything. If after two rounds it's still not right, contact us — we work with you until it's perfect or issue a full refund (before production starts).

Can I order for someone else as a surprise gift?

Yes — many customers do. Just make sure you have the address / location you want on the map. Ship to your address (then wrap it yourself) or directly to the recipient.
